Stamford Farmers' Markets Pretty Underwhelming

It's a Wednesday and I've been to both Farmers' Markets in Stamford (having visiting the upstart one in the High Ridge shopping center last week and the one at Bartlett Arboretum this week). I gotta say they were both pretty unexciting. The pickings were slim and what they had was on the expensive side. (I wasn't looking for a bargain here, but $10.00 for four tomatoes seemed a little on the excessive side.) I am also a little perplexed as to why they would have two competing Farmer's Markets on the same day (it doesn't seem very community-oriented to me). So, what's a girl to do -- venture out to neighboring towns to check out their produce -- Stamford seems to have missed the mark on this one this year.
